Recruiting
Project Description:
Recruiting is one of the main actvities of the management team. Keller Williams has many positive systems that encourage gain sharing and growth. Working with my supervisor to learn the skills of recruitment became a key activtity of mine. Keller Williams is an advocate for recruiting agents in order to grow their business. Capturing local agents allows the business to grow and become more profitable. It was my suervisor's role to attract the attention of the top performing agents in our county. Attracting the attention of top agents would bring clients, business, and growth to Keller Williams. While my supervisor recruited top agents, I performed the duties to attract new agents. I used many internet sources to reach out to potential agents and inform them of opportunities at Keller Williams.
Project Objectives:
-Create ads to attract new and experienced agents
-Call candidates that show interest in real estate
-Recruit candidates to Career Night
-Follow up with qualified candidates
-Set appointment to evaluate candidates
Project Process:
Recruiting had been a challenging project for me because of my lack of experience in this area. I first started off by writing enticing ads through ZipRecruiter to attract the attention of potential candidates. It was my job to explain the benefits of becoming an agent. I explained the process of becoming an agent and the benefits of joining Keller Williams. Our location holds monthly Career Night events at our office that allow potential or current agents the opportunity to see our office, talk to our staff, and learn how to become succesful as an agent. Keller Williams is an advocate for education which allows Career Night to be an excellect first step into this career. A mix of ad posts, emails, phone calls, and meetings were completed in order to attract the attention of candidates and invite them to Career Night.
Career Night is a monthly, one hour event that invites people to come to our office and learn more about Keller Williams. If someone is interested in becoming an agent, we offer this extraordinary session to ask questions and take the right steps in becoming a succesful agent. Recruiting candidates to this event requires communication through multiple platforms such as phone and email. The best way to recruit candidates to this event is to ask people what their interests are in real estate and explain the benefits of working with us. Keller Williams is a dynamic organization that uses an interdependent system to operate. By having a supportive team to train and process work for associates, we offer a lifestyle that excites agents. We strive to have 20 new candidates at our event in order to increase our rate of recruiting associates. This event is also valuable for agents that are looking to depart their current agency in the hopes to work with a company that can improve their business.
Zip Recruiter is a common platform we use throughout our region to create ads that entice people to either join real estate or join our team. Communicating our brand is one of the most important tactics we can use to gain awareness. ZipRecruiter posts our ads to over 100 different sites to gain foot traffic. Through ZipRecruiter, we can advertise how we can help people make a career change into real estate as well as inform agents on the benefits of working with us. Using SEO tactics and professional language we can produce ads that rank far above our competition. The goal is to recieve candidates to these ads and then follow up by calling them. Simply by calling them, I was able to understand what they need and invite them to our Career Night. I also used ZipRecruiter to reverse search for resumes. When we want to recruit more candidates I looked into our database to search for people that potentially matched our needs. I was capable of reaching out to many people in our area and recruit them to Career NIght.
Red Careers is the company site where people can show interest in working with Keller Williams. People can submit their information and explain what purpose they woud like to have in the company. I would receive this information and call these candidates to notify them of the upcoming Career Night events. Using Red Careers is a more direct method of recruiting because these candidates already showed interest in KW, rather than using ZipRecruiter. Again, Career Night is a great way for interested candidates to talk with us face to face in an informal environment.
Recruit Appointments follow a phone interview. When speaking with a candidate I listen for their motivation, passions, and desire in the real estate industry. A phone interview is a great and informal way to get to know someone and their current situation. If a candidate is ready to make the move to Keller Williams I set up an appointment with our team leader. The interview process includes greeting and introducing the client, recieving any resume materials, and then directing him or her to a conference room. During an interview, our team leader asks questions that are behavioral based to understand the traits of a candidate better. A general discussion of business opportunities follow as well as a Q&A session for the candidate.
Project Outcomes:
Gaining my first experince in recruiting was challenging and fun. It took me a few tries to gain the courage to cold call candidates, but after I recieved positive feedback I became more comfortable talking with people. Talking with people could potentially upset someone, especially if they are busy. But after explaining my purpose and offering opportunties, people enjoyed talking with me. A genuine excitement for opportunity echoed through the phone. I was capable of recruiting people to our events which allowed me to recieve positive feedback. I never imagined that a real estate agency would spend so much time recruiting agents, but the benefits of doing so create our unique organization. I am now confident and comfortable in reaching out to people and inviting them to learn more about our organization.
