Twin Falls on Labor Day

Labor Day Weekend came and went, and Summer is now officially over. This summer has brought a lot of change in my life, and I started to write the new chapter of my life. Finishing my undergraduate degree, not knowing which city to live in, and keeping up with the normal demands of life has really challenged me emotionally and physically. As I start Fall, I begin this season with confidence and reassurance of my plans and dreams. I couldn't have gotten here without the support of my family, friends, and my boyfriend. Camping has always made me feel relaxed, and helped me unwind during difficult times. Camping allows me to escape and unleash the wilderwomen in me. I learn how to depend on myself and enjoy the pace of the world with great company.

With that being said, I had the honor to go Glamping with my best friends, Sara and Mac. We have been meaning to plan a trip all summer and we were finally able to pull it off. I decided to check out Airbnb to see what types of cool experiences we can open ourselves up to. I found a "glamping" set-up outside of Seattle, in North Bend. This city is home to Mt. Si, many trails, and rivers. It is an extremely attractive city that gives Washington its name. We stayed in a permanent tent-like structure with a wood slatted floor. Inside the large structure was a bed, picnic table, and kitchen utensils. Outside of the adobe, a firepit and BBQ inspired our culinary spirit. The host of this location was extremely nice and accommodating, she even offered us home grown hen eggs for breakfast. We were given a welcome basket that came with coffee, creamer, chocolate, hot coco, and dog treats. After checking out our riverside spot, we went to the local grocery store to pick up the essentials: food. So what did we feast on this time? We had chips and corn-guacamole for appetizers; chicken and steak kebobs for dinner, s'mores for dessert, a cheese plate and candy for a late night snack, and a salami-cheese-and guacamole bagel breakfast sandwich for the next morning.

Sara and I were both so excited to take amazing pictures of the food we made; we put in a lot of effort to make everything look good. We even bought flowers from the store for props. Before we cooked up our food, we explored the land of the area we were on. Not only were there glamping tents, but there were also tipis. The tipis looked so cool in this setting, and because no one else was there, we were able to get a close up look of every accommodation option. After taking a few hundred pictures, we started to light the fire and the grill. Sara is a master griller, and boy, did those kebobs turn out perfect! As we enjoyed our five course evening, we ended the night making a mess with s'mores and getting the tent ready for the night. It wouldn't be glamping if we didn't stream a movie to a Mac Book Pro, right? So we fell asleep soundly to the old movie "Click", with Adam Sandler.

The next morning we woke up around 6am to fetch water from the well and feed Mac. Mac has been having a great time digging in the ground and smelling all the plants his heart desires. He wanted to get a early start on the day, but we insisted that we should sleep a little longer. Once we woke up, we cleaned up our tent and decided to make breakfast with hot coco. We made an amazing breakfast bagel in the grill that powered us up for our next adventure. We decided to take a hike nearby to Twin Falls. This four mile roundtrip hike was awesome. With a confusing start to the unmarked trail, we walked along a gravel road for a bit and then finally approached the wooded section that leads to the falls. After the challenging descend and ascend through the forest, the steps and bridges added an amazing feature to the landscape. The hike through the trail was beautiful and lushly supported by greenery. As we approached the roaring sound of rushing water, we were instantly gleaming with happiness by the beauty of the falls. Once we got to the first viewing of the falls, we were exponentially excited for the next lookouts. The infrastructure they had for this trail was so perfect. The views from bridges, and cliff side overlooks were so impressive. I cannot believe this amazing waterfall has been in my backyard this whole time. We we took hundreds of pictures of the woods, waterfall, and landscape; we felt so accomplished with this trip. It was an amazing experience with Sara and Mac. We really unwound, lived off of the land, and refreshed with the amazing Fall air. I would 100% recommend this experience to anyone who wants to have a camping experience but with a more luxurious feel. North Bend is an amazing city, and I felt so homey to relax and enjoy it with my best friend.
