On Father's Day this year, I arranged a trip to Camano Island! My dad has visited a lot of national parks, but has yet to see Camano Island. Because I visited this park a few weeks ago, I knew exactly what to show my dad for his special day. The drive to Camano from Seattle is a little bit long because you have to drive for 30 minutes towards the West once you get off of I-90. After breakfast at home we rallied the pup, and my two brothers and headed North. Alec unfortunately could not come becasue he got his tonsils out a few days ago; and my mom was in Cleveland visting family. On the way up, we stopped at a grocery store and got a few 2 foot long sandiwches for lunch. Mac was especially excited to get outdoors and run around with all of us.
Once we arrived in Camano Island we checked in with the visitor's center to learn more about the park. We walked down to a beautiful rocky beach to find a spot to eat our lunch. As we passed the giant sandwiches around, my brothers started to play classic games such as "How far can you throw this rock?", "Can we lift this rock?", and "I'll catch that sharp and dangerous object!". As we sat in the sun and created games out of nature, we started to get to hot in the summer sun. We hiked back up and away from the beach and proceeded to a trail in the shade. We had a great time walking through the mossy and forested trails-Mac of course led us. We walked to a lookout and enjoyed the views of the beach from above. After a few hours of exploring, we were all tuckered out and head home. It was a great Father's Day!
