Summer is in full swing, and I am making the most of it! Recently, Dylan and I went on a spontaneous weekday camping trip to Diablo Lake in the North Cascades. We have visited this area a few times before, but the campground we have been wanting to stay at just opened. We spent the day and night at Colonial Creek campground and had an amazing time exploring the grounds and enjoying the beautiful weather. The camp ground is a forested area, but I was surprisingly okay with this considering the sun was actually too hot. We spent the day climbing on fallen trees and traverssing the different sites. We had many run-ins with chimpmunks and small animals. We also spent our time playing frisbee and kayaking on the lake.

The park was surprisingly busy for a weekday, but we always enjoy observing the varying setups that other campers have. One of our neighbors had a pimped out ford van equipped with a small kitchen and two kayaks. The other neighbors had dozens of glow sticks and lighting accessories for their site. We really enjoy watching the camping scene evolve and embrace new ways of "glamping". We decided to keep our trip classy, so we brought PB&J and smores materials. One of the main activties we do is take pictures of everything. So pictures of dinner and the bonfire occupied us for hours. We even tried to drive up to an overlook at midnight but it was too cloudy to see any stars. The next morning, Dylan got up at 5am to kayak on the lake for 3 hours. It was an awesome overnight trip and am excited for many more to come!
