Exploring in the PNW has been so much fun, especially because of the weather we have been having. Over the weekend, Dylan and I drove up to Mt. Baker with the intention to see Twin Lakes. We tried to drive up to the overlook a few months ago but there was a landslide. When we drove up there this time, the landslide was fixed but as we drove higher and higher we started to hit snow. The first patch of snow caused some problems for Dylan's forward wheel drive jeep. But after five tries, he finally got through the snow. After driving up more, we hit more snow and were unable to drive any further. We parked the car and walked the rest of the way up to the overlook. When we reached the top, it was covered in a thick cloud of fog. We could not see anything and our eyes started to hurt from the brightness. We tried to escape the fog by walking around the lake which allowed us to cross a river by a fallen tree. As we snapped photos of each other and enjoyed the bizarre weather, we will have to wait a few more weeks to view the lake.
With the heavy fog, we decided to travel up to Artist Point on Mt. Baker. We had never seen so much fog in our life, we were literally driving through a cloud. When we got up to Baker, we were forced to stop due to the amazing beauty of the fog rolling over lakes, forests, and cabins. The fog moved so quick, which made us move quickly too. With enough of the fog, we decided to drive down to Nooksack Falls. The greenery and water was so amazing that we took a small hike around the lookout to get an exclusive view. After 9 hours out in the mountains, we were both tired and hungry so we head back to Bellingham to rest and edit pictures.
A few days later brought Dylan and I to a busy weekend. We couldn't resist the temptation to camp so I took my dog, Mac, up to Camano Island to meet Dylan. My parents spoil my dog by taking him on trips and staying in hotels. I think Mac thought out rooftop tent was just as splendid as a 5 star hotel. Because Dylan and I usually Glamp (by watching movies and making beef and broccoli) we decided to have an easy dinner in the woods-so we bought a hot pizza. This was Mac's first camping experience and he loved it! He loved running with Dylan, smelling all the plants, and watching birds. It was so much fun for us to go on a spontaneous adventure to Camano Island. We did not get enough time there, so we will be back shortly. Here are some pictures taken by Dylan and myself!
